Page of Wands Aide-Memoir
Imagine a small child being given their very first pictorial Encyclopedia. How many ideas would those images inspire? What actions or dreams might that book give the child? Of course, many of those dreams and ambitions might actually be impractical at that age.

Page of Wands Key Themes:
Inspiration, Ideas, Curiosity, New Learning, New Messages/News, New Passion, New Project, Adventure, Fearless, Optimism, Youthful Energy, Risk Taker

The Page of Wands within the Tarot Deck.
The Suit of Wands Tarot cards represent growth and ambition. They also resonate with competition, primal energy, inspiration and original thought. All associated with fire they tend to be ‘hot’ personalities. As such they are more wild, charismatic and unpredictable than the other suits. The Suite of Wands cards correspond with the zodiac fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

The Page Court Cards within a Tarot Deck all have similarities too. They all represent young hopeful qualities at the very beginning of a journey. The Knights represent inexperienced people ‘on the journey’. The Queen cards represent people arriving at the destination. The Kings are people who have fully arrived at their destination. They are emotionally stable visionaries. They take responsibility for others well-being.

The Page of Wands Tarot Card Image in the Rider Waite Cards:
In the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck, we see a picture of a well dressed young man holding a staff (wand) that is sprouting leaves. He’s looking at the staff curiously. The young man’s interest in the staff speaks of an individual with an active mind, noticing things around him and developing lots of ideas.
At present the youth is standing stationary in a desert environment, and this tells us that the Page of Wands can form ideas and theories in even the most arid conditions, but also, that he has not begun to take action yet. The Page of Wands represents the person who is enthusiastic with ideas... but is only just on the cusp of trying to implement them.
In a worse cast situation you could say this is a person who admires the trivial, but has built nothing of practical value, yet.
The Page’s tunic is emblazoned with Salamanders, whom reflect the fire aspect of the suit of Wands.

Page of Wands Meanings for General Readings (Upright):
The Page of Wands can possess several meanings, but they all have core similarities. It can represent a rush of creative ideas, which makes a person eager to try a something new. It can represent a youthful vigor or curiosity. It can represent a receiving news (email, letter, phone call) that sets one’s mind full of new good possibilities.
Basically, we are looking at lots of new ideas and curiosities. We are looking at renewed enthusiasm and energy as new possibilities emerge.

A core aspect of the Page of Wands is that ideas and exuberance can dominate over ability, experience, or actual determination to do something. The protagonist H.G. Wells War of the Worlds meets an artilleryman at one point. The artilleryman tells the protagonist enthusiastically of his plan for a new lifestyle: living underground, playing cricket, and killing Martians occasionally. The protagonist is very impressed by this plan and wants to subscribe to the artilleryman's ideas. However, while the artilleryman talks the talk, it soon becomes clear he doesn't walk the walk. His ‘first tunnel’ has barely been started, and he is keener to talk about his ideas of a tunnel-society than actually do the work of digging the tunnel.

Though the artillery man is an example of a ‘worst-case’ Reversed Page of Wands (someone with lots of ideas and enthusiasm, but with no practical intent/ability), many Page of Wands have some of this ‘character’ about them. At best, a Page of Wands is someone who is on the cusp of action – but not yet begun... and perhaps could be encouraged to check the practicality of their ideas... and then try to do something with them.

Page of Wands Reversed Meanings for General Readings:
Reversed cards indicate a negative or corrupted version of the Upright cards. So a negative Page of Wands can represent an absence of creative ideas, which makes a person reluctant to try a something new. It can represent a lack of youthful vigor and curiosity. It can represent receiving news (email, letter, phone call) that sets one’s mind full of new unpleasant possibilities.

Whereas the Upright Page of Wands may struggle to find the ability or staying power to turn his good ideas into reality, the Reverse Page of Wands probably shouldn’t try to implement his ideas. They may seem good ideas to him (or to you, depending on the nature of the question posed to the Tarot), but they probably aren’t. A reverse Page of Wands suggests someone should evaluate their (or others) ideas very carefully.. before deciding to try to fulfill them. This might mean ‘not starting a new romance’, ‘not trying to forge a new romance’, etc.

A Reverse Page of Wands may constantly be taking action, but without good ideas and optimism – constantly fails.

Page of Wands as Feelings (Upright):
You (or the target of the reading) will feel buoyant, optimistic, and full of ideas – almost childlike. Suddenly lots more possibilities abound.

Page of Wands Reversed as Feelings:
You (or the target of the reading) will feel deflated, pessimistic, and lacking in ideas – almost aged. Suddenly there seems little possibilities ahead, and you feel disillusioned.

Page of Wands Love Meanings & Relationship Outcomes (Upright):
The Page of Wands in a Love or Relationship Tarot Reading signifies that you’re brimming with ideas and optimism. It could mean that you will receive good news from someone you are interested in (a reply to a romantic proposal perhaps), and future possibilities are racing through your mind. It might mean that you will be going to college, a new job or vacation – and will meet lots of potential partners.
Basically, the air is sweet with potential romantic liaisons, but there is the warning that ‘faint heart never won a fair maiden’. If you sit their dreaming about all the potential love, romance, fun (and dare say it – sex) you might be having... it might never happen. You have to turn all your ideas and imaginations into hard reality by taking action.

Was the Page of Wands drawn in connection with romance question? 'How (s)he sees me', 'How someone feels about you', 'Does (s)he love me'? Well the card is a possibly a good sign. It indicates they are attracted to you, or at least attracted to the prospect of who they think you are. A romance might not proceed any further than that because they are liable to procrastinate. You might need to be the one who is ‘forward’, and who gathers the courage to talk to them first. You might need to be the one who proposes the first date, the first time to make love together. Be prepared to be the initiator.
And once you are together, there is some risk that the target of your affections was more attracted to the idea of who you are, rather than the reality of who you really are. So... be yourself... totally yourself. Better this person sees the real you and decides whether they like that early in the relationship than you give out your best behavior for a year, and then when you relax into yourself – the shines falls from your lover’s eyes and they leave you.

What about more situational type of romance’ questions, like ‘Will I meet my soulmate soon? What might a Page of Wands mean given such a question? Well the possibilities are more varied, and will depend on what is happening in your life. At a basic level the result if positive, could probably just say mean ‘yes – you might’. But if you wish more detail, the Page of Wands here might indicate:
  • You have (or will have) a massive crush on someone, but don’t really know that person because you haven’t (or won’t) approach them.
  • You will find yourself surrounded with possible romantic interests, but are unsure which to pursue.
  • You will meet (or have met) your soulmate, but run the risk of never getting with them, because of dither.

Page of Wands Reversed Love & Relationship Meanings and Outcomes:
If you’re single, it’s possible that you are feeling disillusioned with the dating game, or even the prospect of finding love in general. If the target of your Tarot Reading draws the Reverse Page of Wands, and they are also the target of your affections... then it’s unlikely they are feeling positive about you and/or love at this moment in time.
If you’re already in a relationship, then you might be struggling (now or soon), and finding it difficult to think of ways to bring the fun and romance back between you both. It is even possible that you will hear unpleasant news about your partner that damages your faith in their commitment to you.
If you are asking about the prospect of finding love, then the reversed Page of Wands suggests the universe is short of ideas at the moment, and possibilities will be scarce.
A Reverse Page of Wands can also indicate that you have tried (or will try) many times, dated (or will date) many people, and are disillusioned that you will ever find the right one.
Page of Wands Career and Work Meanings and Outcomes (Upright):
The Page of Wands here might indicate your head (or an associates’) is brimming with ideas for projects are work, or you have great ideas for a new business.
If the Question posed to the Tarot Reading was more along the lines of ‘what are my career prospects’ (Or should I look for work right now) – then it would indicate that all sorts of job vacancies are open at the moment (or soon).
But the same potential issue can arise with all these situations, unless you take concrete action the future won’t change. Great new project ideas won’t turn to fruition unless you initiate and stick with those projects. A new business won’t give you the lifestyle you live, unless you put that idea into practice. You won’t succeed in achieving that new job unless you apply for jobs.
A further note of caution, although the Page of Wands is a positive card, there is the possibility that certain jobs aren’t suitable for you, that certain business ideas are not realistic etc.
The way ahead is give your ideas (or your associate’s ideas) a reality check, keep the best ones, and then actually take action on those ideas.

Page of Wands Reversed Career and Work Meanings and Outcomes:
The Reverse Page of Wands indicates you (or someone, or a situation) lacks ideas and optimism.  You might have asked ‘how can I get along with my boss?’. The card will return the idea that there is a lack of ways, right now. Overall, there is a sense that there is no way ahead for your work or career. It’s possible the lack of positive ideas arises because many attempts have already been made. You (or someone) is lacking enthusiasm about the future now.
It’s possible you have, or will, receive bad news (turned down for a promotion or job or bank loan, etc).
Perhaps your colleagues or boss lacks ideas and vigor now, or doesn’t trust yours?

Page of Wands Yes or No Meanings (Upright):
The Page of Wands, drawn upright, means a qualified YES. Yes for General readings. Yes for Love. Yes for Career. Yes for Relationships.

Page of Wands Reversed Yes/No Meanings:
The Pang of Wands card drawn in reverse means ‘No’. It means ‘No’ for General readings, ‘no’ for Love, ‘no’ for Career and ‘no’ for Relationships.

Page of Wands Advice If You Wish to Avoid a Poor Outcome in the Future.
In my Email Tarot Reading Service I give good actionable advice to people, rather than just tell them that this or that is liable to be their fate (or their challenge in life). Below are some brief ideas to help you deal with drawing an Upright Page of Wands in a Tarot Reading:
  • The homeopathic remedy Sulphur is idea for someone brimming with ideas, but not actively acting on those ideas. Purchase 30c Suphur – and take as directed.
  • Test your business idea by reviewing competitors. Almost all business niches will have successful competitors if the idea is worthy. Exceptions really only apply to the most cutting edge technologies or internet developments. Unless you are a bona fide expert in these areas... be very suspicious of spending lots of money on a new venture
  • Daydreaming and procrastination are a real risk with Page of Wands. Set yourself a realistic timetable of action, full of easy to achieve steps that lead to key goals. Remove distractions. Stick to your timetable of action and reward yourself if you do. Aim for doing enough at each step, rather than perfection. Give yourself really good rewards which each key goal is achieved (and don’t allow yourself such rewards until those goals are reached).
